Youthline

Youthline Wellington

Our Vision - Every young person in Aotearoa New Zealand has somewhere to turn for support.

Youthline’s primary purpose is to provide a safe youth-centred service that supports and empowers rangatahi. We do this through our telephone, web, email and text counselling services, through our education services (primarily to youth in the Wellington region, but also to others in need), and by training young people to volunteer at Youthline Wellington and support their community.

Awareness Wellbeing - Vanessa

Hi, I'm Vanessa from Awareness Wellbeing, I'm here to help you find your groove.

You can live with less effort and more ease by working with me to learn a few simple truths about how your mind works.

I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned about mental and emotional wellbeing because I know it works – it transformed my life.

I use coaching and facilitation to help my clients to uncover their wellbeing and resilience.  The sessions are fun, we don't talk about our deep dark thoughts, on the contrary, we spend more time talking about what our minds (all minds) at rest are capable of.

I work with families, individuals, groups, and schools to deliver this easy-to-understand approach that allows a respite from challenges that life throws at you.

I live in Tawa and look forward to seeing some familiar faces at my stall, come and chat with me about Awareness Wellbeing.

We are committed to successfully transitioning Porirua rangatahi to a future they aspire to.

For the best chances at success, we are working with Porirua rangatahi to ensure they are healthy and engaged young citizens who are succeeding in education, training and employment.

At the same time, we are contributing to the success of our city by helping make sure businesses have the skilled staff needed for growth and by securing good employment opportunities for our rangatahi.

We connect businesses, community and individuals to rangatahi of Porirua who are looking for opportunities to explore what the world has to offer and what they can give in return. We do this through our education programmes, which place business mentors into schools to share knowledge; and we provide opportunities for rangatahi to enter the workforce through JOBfest, our Youth Service and through the Youth 2 Work movement activity with businesses who are committed to growing local talent.

Getting help just got a whole lot easier for young Pacific people in Porirua with the launch of the Tupu Aotearoa programme.

Partners Porirua is running this Ministry for Pacific Peoples initiative to support Pacific people, over the age of 15, as they transition into their next phase be it work, training or tertiary study. Locally the service will be known as Tupu Rangatahi.

We all know the benefits of having a driver licence – job opportunities, road safety, independence and living within the law.

Drive 4 Life was first introduced in 2007 as a safe driving programme and over 1000 rangatahi have graduated from Drive 4 Life with their learner, restricted or full driver licence.

The Drive 4 Life programme is available to rangatahi involved with Partners Porirua. Without a licence rangatahi can have a hard time trying to enter the workforce and can often be overlooked by employers. We’re here to help break down those barriers.

The programme includes learner licence workshops to help prepare students for their tests and to promote driver safety. Each year on average 130 students are helped with their learner licences, with a 99% success rate.

Partners Porirua also facilitates a Community Driver Mentor Programme enabling disadvantaged rangatahi to practise their driving skills with fully licensed adult driving mentors. This helps rangatahi to obtain their restricted and full driver licences.

The mentors are trained to act as driving coaches, supervising a range of driving experiences and fostering positive habits leading to safer drivers on our roads and in communities.

Each year more than 100 students obtain their restricted or full licence with our help.

If you’re interested in getting your driver licence or volunteering as a driver mentor, please call our office on 04 237 1097.

Introduction

Established in 2014 with significant support from the Vodafone Foundation and the Tindall Foundation, Cannons Creek Boxing Academy was the first academy set up outside of its pioneering academy in Naenae. With a vision for inspiring and empowering young people through the vehicle of boxing, the academy was set up with support and encouragement from the New Zealand Police.

Today the academy now has a head coach and two female lead coaches, as young women increasingly find their way to Cannons Creek Boxing Academy for a source of wellbeing and friendship.

Cannons Creek Boxing Academy strives to collaborate within the community to support the whole young person and their whanau. We value the relationships we have and continue to make with youth, schools, community and police.
